Belgian TOB with Trading 212: compute and pay it step by step

Trading 212 does not withhold the Belgian tax on stock exchange transactions: as a Belgian investor you must declare and pay every buy and sell on your Trading 212 account yourself. It is less work than it sounds - with the right export it takes about fifteen minutes a month.

Step 1: export your transaction history as CSV

In the Trading 212 app or web version, open your transaction history and choose to export it as CSV for the period you want to declare. Both the older and the newer Trading 212 export format are recognised by the calculator.

Step 2: compute the tax per month

Load the CSV into the free calculator. It determines the correct rate per position (0.35% for shares; 0.12% or 1.32% for ETFs depending on their registration - the background is in the complete TOB guide), converts foreign currencies at the ECB rate and groups everything per declaration month. Your file is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded.

Step 3: declare and pay

File one declaration per calendar month via MyMinfin > My declaration > Miscellaneous taxes (DivTax), by the last working day of the second month after your transaction month, and pay to BE39 6792 0022 9319 with the structured reference from DivTax. Missed the deadline? Estimate your fine with the late-filing tool.

Frequently asked questions

I invest through pies with many small orders. Does every buy count separately?
Yes, every executed order is a taxable transaction, including fractional purchases of a few euros. The calculator processes all those small orders correctly, rounding per transaction as required.
Do I also pay TOB on my sells at Trading 212?
Yes. The tax applies to buys and sells alike, each time on the transaction value in euro.
Trading 212 did not give me a tax document. Is that normal?
Yes. Trading 212 is not a Belgian intermediary and produces no TOB statement. Your CSV export plus the per-month computation is your file - keep both together with your filing confirmation.
